We are looking for enthusiastic people with excellent communication skills to help create the best possible experience for our visitors as they explore the Zoo at Emerald Park!

The primary responsibility of this role is to oversee our three zoo experiences (Petting Farm, Lemur Walkthrough, and World of Raptor display), biofacts in our education centre, table-top activities, and public zoo talks.

Our team is dedicated to enriching the visitors understanding of wildlife, conservation, and the natural world through our immersive experiences.

Role & responsibilities

As a Seasonal Team Member in our Discovery and Learning Department, you will play a key role in creating positive interaction between our guests and the zoo. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure visitors adhere to the park’s safety guidelines and protocols.
  • Be vigilant to the health, welfare, and behaviour of our animals.
  • Interact and offer insight to our guests about the animals, their habitats and conservation.
  • Encourage our visitors to ask questions, engage with signage throughout the park and visit our other experiences.
  • Ensure the walk-through enclosures are accessible to visitors i.e. clearing paths.
  • Note any potential hazards to senior staff members.

Areas of work

  • Zoo experiences (Petting Farm, Lemur Woods walkthrough, and World of Raptors display).
  • Education centre.
  • Support table-top activities throughout the zoo.
  • Assist with delivering of public zoo talks.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be 17 years or older by March 29th, 2025.
  • Prior work experience is not a requirement and we welcome individuals who are entering the workforce for the first time.
  • This is a seasonal contract position. Estimated start date March 29th – September 28th, 2025. Contracts may be extended.

  • A good knowledge of animals and wildlife, with a keen interest to gain more knowledge.
  • Excellent observation skills and can show their initiative and professionalism in any situation.
  • Exceptional communication skills to engage effectively with guests and team members.
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and go that extra mile.
