Our team of educators offer a range of engaging and interactive animal science packages and opportunities suitable for students attending third-level and QQI courses.
Students will participate in a behavioural study of a chosen species at Emerald Park. Working in small groups, students will observe, record, interpret and discuss animal behaviours. Behaviours will be catalogued in an ethogram and students will carry out a short study to quantify how their selected animal spends its time.
This package includes a lecture, observations, check sheets and group discussions.

Emerald Park is an accredited zoo and is home to over 250 animals. In this session, students will be guided around our zoo by our experienced zoo education team, to discuss and discover features of our award-winning enclosure design.
A key feature of this session includes understanding the ways in which a well-designed enclosure can promote optimal animal welfare along with enhancing visitor experience.

In this study, students will conduct an investigation of a grassland ecosystem in Emerald Park. The study will include qualitative and quantitative plant and animal surveys.
This package includes outdoor and indoor portions, use of apparatus and data collection, as well as a recap of ecology curriculum material.
This session can be adapted to suit Junior Cycle Science, Leaving Certificate Biology as well as Further Education Programmes.
