Reports to: Senior Zookeepers

Full time, permanent

Duties & responsibilities

  • Daily routine husbandry and maintenance of animal enclosures.
  • Preparation and distribution of diets.
  • Monitoring and reporting physiological and behavioural changes in the animals.
  • Routine husbandry tasks handling and training animals.
  • Engaging with guests and promoting the conservation partners Emerald Park supports.

Working conditions

  • Rotating roster with a variable number of weekends per year.
  • 20 days annual leave.
  • Salary €31,400 per year.

Senior Zookeepers

Minimum experience requirements

  • 3+ years’ paid experience working in an accredited zoological institution.

Preferred experience requirements

  • Experience working and training domestic hoof stock, Aves and / or small mammals.
  • Experience as working as part of a diverse team.

Minimum education requirements

  • Secondary education and / or, if successful, are willing to complete DMZAA within the first two years of working at Emerald Park.

Preferred education requirements

  • Tertiary level education (has already completed DMZAA or, if successful, is willing to complete it within the first two years of working at Emerald Park).

Physical requirements

  • High levels of physical activity, strength, stamina, and/or endurance are required for this job.
